Buyer questions
Frequently asked questions.
Has Islamabad’s water upgrade been completed?+
This report concerns a proposed assessment. It is not a completion certificate or a guarantee of supply at any building.
Should a buyer skip a building-specific water check?+
No. Verify the connection, bills, supply conditions, storage, backup arrangements and recurring charges for the exact property.
01
What is proposed
CDA describes technical and financial reviews of tube wells, storage tanks and pumping infrastructure, including energy use and distribution performance. The proposal also considers SCADA monitoring feasibility. These are assessment plans, not verified service improvements at individual properties.
02
Implementation remains conditional
The authority identifies further studies, approvals and applicable procurement requirements before possible competitive bidding. Its release does not announce a completed upgrade, an awarded implementation contract or building-level connection dates.
03
Buyer checklist: verify the actual service
Before reserving an apartment, house or shop, ask the seller or building manager for the legal water connection, recent bills, supply hours, storage arrangements and current maintenance charges. Visit at different times where possible and ask existing occupants about pressure and interruptions. Keep tanker or backup-water costs in the ownership budget.
04
Separate infrastructure news from a sales promise
A citywide proposal does not establish that a particular unit has reliable water, vacant possession or approval. Do not substitute a headline for a signed unit statement, title checks and a site visit. No price appreciation or rental return is guaranteed. Verification note
FPN publication: 20 October 2026. CDA posted its statement on 18 October with a 17 October dateline. The News reported the proposal on 18 October. Reporting has been cross-checked, but FPN has not independently inspected the infrastructure or located an IFC confirmation of an awarded implementation contract.
